Pillars of Eternity item codes — the GiveItem list and money guide

How Pillars of Eternity item codes and GiveItem really work — the money command, crafting shortcuts, and the fastest way to find any item's name, without a list that goes stale.

Pillars of Eternity item codes are really internal item names, and the single best tool for finding them is built into the game. Rather than memorising a giant list that breaks after the next patch, you let the console do the work: type the start of a name and it suggests the valid matches for your exact install, expansions and all. This page shows the command, the naming pattern, and the currency and crafting shortcuts that go with it.

The three commands you need

GiveItem <ItemName> [count] — adds an item (optionally several).
GivePlayerMoney <amount> — adds copper pands, the currency.
FreeRecipesToggle — crafting and enchanting stop costing ingredients or coin.

Finding an item name with the console

Open the console (press ~, then run iroll20s once to enable commands), type GiveItem followed by a space, and begin typing part of the item you want. The console autocompletes as you go, so you can scroll through matching names until you find the right one — no external list required. Append a number to receive a stack, for example a handful of the same potion for a test party.

The GiveItem list: Pillars of Eternity item codes

CategoryNotes
WeaponsSwords, sabres, war bows, arquebuses, wands and more — each has its own internal name the console can autocomplete.
Armour & shieldsRobes through plate, plus shields; spawn a set to test a defensive build without grinding for it.
ConsumablesPotions, scrolls, drugs and food — useful for stocking a fresh test party.
IngredientsCrafting and enchanting materials; pair with the free-recipes toggle to build anything instantly.
Quest & unique itemsNamed gear and quest pieces; handy when a scripted reward fails to appear.
CurrencyCopper pands are added with their own command rather than GiveItem — see below.

Money and crafting

Currency is deliberately separate from items. GivePlayerMoney tops up your copper pands directly, which is the quickest way to clear a shopping list or bankroll a fresh build. When you would rather make gear than buy it, FreeRecipesToggle turns crafting and enchanting free for as long as it is on — combine it with a few spawned ingredients and you can assemble anything the recipe book allows. Remember to toggle it off afterwards if you want the economy to matter again.

Matching gear to a build

Spawning items with Pillars of Eternity item codes pairs naturally with respeccing. If you have just reshaped a character on the attribute & skill reference, use GiveItem to hand them the weapons and armour that fit the new plan, then top up with GivePlayerMoney for enchanting. For quick in-play toggles alongside all this, the console-command finder keeps every other command a search away.

Item & money codes — questions & answers

What is the command to add an item?

GiveItem <ItemName> [count]. Type the item’s internal name — the console autocompletes it — and optionally add a number to receive several at once.

How do I find the exact item name?

Open the console, type GiveItem and a space, then start typing part of the name. The console suggests valid matches as you type, so you can browse names without memorising them.

How do I add money?

Use GivePlayerMoney <amount> to add copper pands, the game’s currency. Money is not added through GiveItem — it has its own command.

How do I craft or enchant for free?

FreeRecipesToggle switches on free crafting and enchanting, so recipes stop consuming ingredients or copper. Toggle it off again when you are done.

Can I spawn unique or quest items?

Yes — unique and quest items have internal names too, and the console will autocomplete them. This is the usual fix when a scripted reward never lands in your inventory.

Where do spawned items go?

They land in your stash or on the active character, depending on the item. Check both the character inventory and the stash if you do not see it immediately.

Do item names differ in Deadfire?

Yes. Deadfire has its own item set and its own console, so first-game item names will not carry over. Use Deadfire’s autocomplete for that game.

Is there a master list of every item code?

The most reliable "list" is the console’s own autocomplete — it always matches your installed version, expansions included. A static list can fall out of date after a patch, whereas autocomplete cannot.
